For this Game Jam, we gathered a very small group of 3 developers. We had a lot of fun with messing around in Unity. Maybe a little too much since we swapped our idea around 4 times... But in the day we had left, we built something that we're all pretty happy with. It's a simple concept, but people had a lot of fun. In the 'Fun' category, we were ranked 9th out of 30 entries.
With the theme 'Spread it' in mind, we created a game where you have color as many tiles as possible into your color.
You can sabotage the opponent by dashing into them which makes them fly away and creates a burst of your color.
You can also occasionally place mines that get detonated when your opponent collides with it.
Whoever's got to color the most amount of tiles in their color after the timer runs out receives the very epic trophy 'You're winner'.
I was responsible for the behaviour of tiles. I needed to make sure the correct color was assigned upon collision. The tiles are also generated based on how many you want in width and height for if we ever wanted to expand on this.
I also created the landmine behaviour. After you placed one, you receive one after a certain amount of time.
The landmine will apply a force on your opponent when they collide with it. It also spawns a particle and turns the tiles into the correct color in a certain radius.
